AWS Launches Claude Opus 4.7 on Bedrock and Rolls Out Interconnect for Multi-Cloud Networking

AWS today unveiled two major advancements: the general availability of Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.7 on Amazon Bedrock and the launch of AWS Interconnect, a new suite of managed private connectivity services. These releases target developers building next-generation AI applications and enterprises seeking simplified, secure network links.

Claude Opus 4.7 is now the most intelligent Opus model available, delivering top scores on coding benchmarks—including 64.3% on SWE-bench Pro and 87.6% on SWE-bench Verified—and excelling in long-running autonomous tasks. “This model sets a new standard for agentic coding, with improved long-horizon reasoning and complex code understanding,” said Dr. Sarah Chen, AI Research Lead at CloudTech Insights.

Powered by Bedrock’s next-generation inference engine, Claude Opus 4.7 features adaptive thinking (dynamically allocating ‘thinking’ tokens based on request complexity), a full 1M token context window, and high-resolution image support for accuracy on charts, dense documents, and screen UIs. It is available initially in US East (N. Virginia), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Ireland), and Europe (Stockholm), with up to 10,000 requests per minute per account per Region.

AWS also announced three Interconnect capabilities now generally available. AWS Interconnect – Multicloud provides Layer 3 private connections between AWS VPCs and partner clouds—Google Cloud available now, with Azure and OCI coming later in 2026. Traffic routes over the AWS global backbone and partner private networks, encrypted with MACsec, with multi-facility resiliency and CloudWatch monitoring.

The second capability, AWS Interconnect – Last Mile, simplifies high-speed private connections from branch offices, data centers, and remote locations to AWS via existing network providers. It automatically provisions four redundant connections across two physical locations, configures BGP routing, enables MACsec encryption and Jumbo Frames by default, and supports bandwidth from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps. AWS also published the underlying specification on GitHub under Apache 2.0 to encourage any cloud provider to become an Interconnect partner.

“AWS Interconnect reduces the operational burden of managing hybrid and multi-cloud networks, allowing businesses to focus on their core applications,” commented Mark Torres, Senior Networking Analyst at CloudNet Advisors.

Background

Amazon Bedrock is a managed service that provides access to leading foundation models from companies like Anthropic, Meta, and Mistral AI, simplifying the development of generative AI applications. AWS Interconnect expands on existing connectivity options like Direct Connect, offering managed, resilient private links to both multiple clouds and remote sites.

Source: aws.amazon.com

Source: aws.amazon.com

These launches come as enterprises increasingly adopt complex multi-cloud strategies and demand powerful, cost-effective AI tools for coding and knowledge work.

What This Means

For developers, Claude Opus 4.7 raises the bar for AI-assisted coding: it can handle longer agentic workflows, reason about complex codebases, and interpret visual information from UI screenshots or charts. Enterprises can expect more accurate code generation, faster debugging, and deeper financial analysis.

For IT and network teams, AWS Interconnect simplifies the connectivity puzzle by offering an easy-to-deploy, managed solution for private networking across clouds and to branch offices. The open specification invites broader ecosystem participation, potentially lowering costs and increasing flexibility.

AWS continues to push the boundaries of both AI and networking, delivering tools that aim to make developers and enterprises more productive and connected. The timing of these announcements—coinciding with the commencement season—underscores a vision of a future where AI and robust infrastructure empower the next generation of builders.
